What method sits behind these calculators?

Registration tax, malus and inspection

The 2026 registration simulator uses horsepower rates published by Service-Public (Y1 tax by region, Y4 €11, Y5 €2.76). Malus is added only on first registration in France.

The 2026 CO₂ & weight malus follows the tax code (thresholds 108 g/km and 1,500 kg, cap €80,000). The next inspection follows the rules: first test at 4 years for a passenger car, then every 2 years.

TCO, trip, finance

TCO adds depreciation (age curve), energy, insurance and servicing, per km. Trip cost isolates energy for one journey (litres or kWh) — tolls and wear excluded.

The loan / lease simulator computes a monthly payment from the rate you enter. It is not a bank APR or a commercial offer: always compare with the contract.

Example sequence before you buy

Compact SUV 1,620 kg, 128 g/km, €32,000. 1) Registration tax: Y1 for your region + malus if the car is new. 2) TCO over 5 years at 15,000 km/year. 3) If financed, 60-month loan vs lease. 4) Commute trip to judge petrol vs electric. The four figures together beat a list price.

Example once the car is on the road

Next inspection date, yearly servicing budget, weekend trip cost. The AutoSuivi logbook then keeps invoices, mileage and reminders — which the calculators do not store until you have an account.

Shared limits. Registration (regional Y1, Y4, Y5), malus and inspection rules: texts in force in 2026, subject to change. TCO and trip: standard formulas, not a trade valuation or a charger receipt. Loan: theoretical monthly payment (monthly compound interest), excluding borrower insurance and arrangement fees.
